Harnessing the power of film & storytelling to educate, inspire community impact, and inform public policy change around water.
The World Water Film Festival serves to curate, encourage the creation of, and drive interest in films from around the world that demonstrate the human connection with our most treasured resource, water.
By bringing together filmmakers and content creators with academics, water professionals, and environmental advocates, we want the public to better understand and celebrate the value and beauty of water, and to be inspired to protect it from waste, pollution, and overexploitation.
2025 Film Submissions Now Open
We are collaborating with UN Water and are particularly looking for films relevant to the upcoming World Water Day (March 22 2026) and World Toilet Day (November 19 2025) themes. While rooted in NYC, our events travel the globe! In 2025 we held events and screenings in Chicago for Chicago Water Week, Rotterdam (Netherlands) for the UN Decade of Restoration x Swimmable Cities event (Community Film Night), and will head to Buenos Aires in November 2025 for a UN Toilet Day event with La Camara del Agua.
