Harnessing the power of film & storytelling to impact public policy change, educate, and create community impact around water.
Who We Are
The World Water Film Festival curates films of all genres from all over the world that explore our personal, societal, cultural, and environmental connection with water. Festival events bring people together and address some of the most significant challenges and exciting prospects we face when it comes to humanity’s relationship with water. Connected to UN Water organizations, we aim to amplify water issues and solutions...connected by film and the power to inspire.
In creating this platform, our goal is to leverage the power in the medium and art form of film to enhance relationships between filmmakers, organizations, and the entire human population to build advocacy and activism in water-related matters.
World Water Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is proudly registered with DAFgiving360 (Donor Advised Fund).
“News organizations, scientists and policy makers alone will not inspire action and change. It is the creatives who will save the day.”
The World Water Film Festival was created in 2022 by philanthropist, environmental advocate and filmmaker, Robert Strand.
In March 2023, the inaugural WWFF was an official event of the New York Water Week and UN 2023 Water Conference agenda, in partnership with the Columbia Climate School, UN Water’s International Ground Water Resources Assessment Center (IGRAC) and the Youth for Global Health & Social Justice.
We are a non-profit film festival for filmmakers and storytellers from all over the world to highlight human-water relationship issues and concerns that inspire an action step for the viewer beyond its entertainment and informative value.
